NOTE-1: the harness is shipped to you on a Red plastic plate. You take the pickups and controls off that plate and swap them to your pickguard. The connections to your guitar are easily completed without soldering.

NOTE-2: All current NoSoldering Harness are suitable for guitars that have the pickups mounted on a pickguard or direct to the wood with rear rout control cavity, provided the pickup cavities accomodate the offset baseplate or are undercut to do so.

NOTE-3: Minimum depth of control rout must be 1.42" or 36mm. Maximum thickness for mounting pots with star washer fitted is 7.5mm. Some Chinese Strats (Squire affinity) and certain copies have a shallow rout in the control cavity that may have to be made deeper. Check before ordering or be prepared to rout your control cavity deeper. Deepening the floor will not adversly affect the sound of the guitar, remember that all Strats made since early 1950's have a full depth cavity and lots of those guitars sound legendary.

NOTE-4: G&L guitars: no harness will not fit unless a custom pickguard is fitted which has the switch slot at a similar angle to a Fender Strat. Download the Footprint Template in the sections below to see what is required of a custom pickguard.

NOTE-5: Strats which have only 2 pots (knobs) with the output socket mounted on the pickguard. Since all pots plug into the main module, one solution for this pickguard configuration is the Tone control can be simply left out because you only have 2 holes for pots. That leaves the K9 (or K7) control operational. However if you prefer 3 controls then you need to have the body routed for the normal Strat recessed output plate and jack socket. Either way you just order a normal Harness along with your pickups.

NOTE-6: Warranty: Everything in the harness except the Pots is warranted for a period of 12 months. Pots and K9 control are warranted for 3 months.

High definition Tone control is a very usable tone control because it's effect is not as savage as a regular Tone control. Unlike normal Tone controls it can be used at position '0' to get a smokey soulful tone flavour without robbing the sound of important high mids. In comparison, regular tone controls turn the sound to mud because they severely cut important upper midrange frequencies that give notes good definition. Some players think it's not working because it's a subtle control and may take some getting used to before it's effect comes into focus. However when you finally ‘get it' you (like so many before) might find it very pleasing.

Sliding the switch from Hi-Def to Normal (.022) will return the tone control to normal.

The K5 harness is a basic harness without additional switching functionality. It costs less than the K7 and K9 but the quality has not been compromised for sake of price. Three improvements over stock factory wiring are a) the popular switchable Hi-Definition/Normal Tone controls and b) the bridge pickup is connected to the lower Tone pot while the middle Tone pot serves the middle and neck pickups. I did this because the bridge pickup, having the most treble, needs a Tone control to avoid excessive treble. Both Tone pots are No-load type. c) the volume pot has the famous Kinman treble bypass filter so you won't loose tone when you turn the volume down.

Suits all Kinman sets. Available for Left hand and Right hand. NEWS Mar-10: now equipped with new low torque pots for easy finger rolling (violinning).

The K7 Plus was introduced 2008, it comes with a 7 sound mixing system as standard. The K7 pot is a control that, in conjunction with the 5 pos switch, gives you 7 (parallel) combinations of the 3 pickups, the extra sounds being similar to the normal position 2/4 sounds but different. Click this link for the K7 sound switching chart The sounds of the K7 Harness are more suited to clean playing so by inference is best suited to the Traditional Mk-III set. For Distortion and overdrive choose the K9 Harness with the fat and gutsy series connections.

The current version is suitable for rear routed control cavity (24th March '06). Click for K7 footprint template to see if it fits into the control cavity of your Non-Fender guitar. This version has 2 capacitors that can be selected by a mini slide switch mounted on the harness. Slide one direction to get my High Definition tone control or slide the opposite direction to get a regular tone control if you want normal extreme treble cut.

A second mini-slide switch selects which pickup (neck or bridge) is mixed to the output by the K7 control. This is the additional feature that distinguishes the K7 Plus from the original K7.

The volume pot has the famous Kinman treble bypass filter so you won't loose tone when you turn the volume down. Another unique feature is the pots are user replaceable without soldering (in the event one needs to be replaced).

Best for Blues and Hank Marvin sets, also for Knopfleresque quack sounds with Traditional Mk-III set. Available for Left hand and Right hand.

The K9 Harness provides the utmost sonic versatility. Offers all the sounds of the K7 plus more Knopfler-esque sounds as well a high output series sound for overdrive.

Suitable for both pickguard and & rear rout control cavities such as offered by Warmoth. Click for K9 footprint template to see if it fits into the control cavity of your Non-Fender guitar. Introduced March 06.

The K9 harness provides all 5 normal Strat sounds plus 4 new dimension sounds. The 6th, 7th and 8th sounds are variations of the distinctive Knopfler-esque quack sound while the 9th sound is in Gibson humbucker territory and provide xtra output (if wanted) for natural crunch sounds. These are selected with the lower Push/Push pot. Popping the knob out with the pickup selector switch in position 2 re-connects the Bridge & Middle from parallel into series*, for boost in output and instant humbuckerish crunch: and also *that* plus the neck pickup in parallel for fat hollow Knopfler-esque sounds. Click this link for the K9 sound switching chart.

The volume pot has the famous Kinman treble bypass filter so you won't loose tone when you turn the volume down. A unique additional feature is the internal slide switch where you can select either of 2 tone caps, my High Definition Tone control, or a regular tone control if you want normal extreme treble cut. Another unique feature is the pots and K9 control are user replaceable without soldering (in the event one needs to be replaced).

The K9 works well with Kinman Traditional Mk-III and particularily well with the Woodstock Plus set which, in series mode, sounds fat and furry on the treble strings similar to a humbucker, but with better bass side definition. Imagine ..... a Strat and Gibson in one guitar !!!

The K9-H is a version of our K9 Strat harness designed for bridge (and /or neck) humbucker (HSS or HSH). The footprint template is the same as the K9. The two main differences are
1) the volume pot is 500K but changes to 250K when a Strat pickup is selected.
2) The Push/Push switch splits the humbucker(s) to single coil operation in the ‘OUT’ position regardless of selector switch position.

The rotary aspect of the K9 Push/Push control mixes the neck pickups to the output (or whatever else is selected by the selector switch and the K9 switch). The volume pot has the famous Kinman treble bypass filter so you won't loose tone when you turn the volume down.

Switching function charts HSS & HSH

NOTE: when the humbucker(s) is split to single coil mode it is non-noiseless, either alone or in combination with the Strat pickups. Available for Left hand and Right hand.

Woodstock Plus in a K9 NoSoldering Harness (new 11-Nov-07). First section is bridge pickup Hx-85 alone, clean typical single coil sound.
